Process of a Home Addition project
Almost any Construction project can be confusing and when it's taking place at your existing home it can sometimes get out of hand, this is why here at Kerdels we make it our priority to keep the whole process as transparent as possible to each of our clients. We will keep you constantly updated on how your job is progressing, including any problems that may cause unexpected delays. The following six steps outline the process Kerdels follows on a standard home improvements project including our recommendations on what to do before hand to get the most out of your new extension or addition.

Whether you are happy with the area, enjoy your neighbours or your children have settled into their school, you have made the decision to stay where you are and simply extend your home. You simply want your home to be more functional and comfortable, to grow with you and your family's lifestyle.

To speed up the entire process and reduce any inconveniences, please have a copy of your house plans from your local council on hand before contacting us. These plans should include:
- A Site plan
- A Floor Plan
- And any side elevations at your existing home.

At our first client meeting, we will discuss your needs for the outdoor areas and/or extensions, giving consideration to your lifestyle, the existing layout and features of the house, and the budget.
This is the time to establish a brief of what is essential to the project, and also to throw ideas around for optional extras. You can have confidence in the advice given by our design consultant, knowing you are dealing with an experienced, well esablished company.

Measurements are taken from the house and our team sets about putting all the great ideas onto paper. We draw on experience, imagination and countless industry books and magazines to create the right look for you.
The materials to be used on the project will be suggested and discussed. In the design we keep in mind many key factors to help save you money and get the most out of your project:
Passive solar design which allows cross ventilation and allows the Northern sun into your home in winter.
Any breath taking views that we can allow the design to accentuate.
A visit to our office to view the design on computer is optional.

Once the concept is complete, architectural plans are drawn on computer, showing full detail of how the project will be constructed.
Clients receive a set of plans to keep.
We are experienced in submitting plans to councils, and make sure all measurements and specifications are included to their standards. By having our drawings right the first time, we can keep the time taken for council approval to a minimum.
We liaise with engineers to sign off of drawings as required, and this is all included in our price.
In short, we worry about this process so you don’t have to.
